Overview

"Siri Siri Muvva" is a classic Telugu drama from 1976 that showcases the incredible talent of director K. Viswanath and features the captivating performances of Jaya Prada and Chandra Mohan. The story revolves around Hyma, a mute girl with a deep passion for dance, who faces a tough life under the thumb of her cruel stepmother. Her stepmother is more interested in promoting her own daughter, Savithri, as a film star. Amidst this turmoil, Hyma finds solace and love in Sambayya, an orphan who stands by her side and protects her from the manipulative designs of her stepmother and her nephew, Badram.

As the plot unfolds, tragedy strikes when Hyma's father passes away, and Sambayya, who is suffering from tuberculosis, takes her to the city in search of a better life. Hyma begins to earn a living through her dancing at a Kalakshetra, while Sambayya hopes she will marry the event organizer, Ram Babu. However, Hyma remains devoted to Sambayya, and as Savithri's film aspirations falter, the bond between the characters deepens. Ultimately, the film concludes on a hopeful note, with Hyma and Sambayya uniting in marriage, celebrating their love against all odds. The film not only received critical acclaim, including two National Film Awards, but also left a lasting impact, leading to a Hindi remake titled "Sargam" just a few years later.
