​”Retro” is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language romantic action film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Produced by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, the film features Suriya in the lead role as a gangster striving to leave his violent past behind to lead a peaceful life, with Pooja Hegde portraying his wife.  The supporting cast includes Jayaram and Joju George.

The film was officially announced in March 2024 under the working title “Suriya 44,” marking Suriya’s 44th film as a lead actor. The official title, “Retro,” was unveiled in December 2024. Principal photography commenced in June 2024 and concluded by early October, with shooting locations spanning the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ooty, Kerala, and Chennai. The music for the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, featuring singles like “Kannadi Poove” and “Kanimaa,” which have garnered significant attention.  “Retro” is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1, 2025.
