Overview
The film "Kannappa" tells the inspiring story of a devoted hunter named Kannappa, who is deeply connected to the Hindu god Shiva. Set against the backdrop of the Srikalahasteeswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh, Kannappa's journey begins when he stumbles upon a sacred shiva lingam while hunting in the forest. His devotion is unique; he makes offerings that reflect his humble background, including water from his mouth and meat from his hunts. Despite these unconventional gifts, his sincerity and pure heart win Shiva's favor.
As the story unfolds, Kannappa notices that the lingam is bleeding from one of its eyes. In a remarkable act of devotion, he sacrifices one of his own eyes to stop the bleeding. Just as he prepares to offer his remaining eye, he marks the spot with his foot to ensure he places it correctly. Moved by Kannappa's unwavering dedication, Shiva appears before him, restores his eyesight, and grants him liberation. This tale of faith and sacrifice is celebrated in South Indian traditions, making "Kannappa" a poignant depiction of devotion and divine grace.
